Mrs. Moynihan-Downs
In my classroom I want technology to breed advantages for my students. That is why I want to use technology thoughtfully and responsibly. There are a couple of uses I know I definitely want to include.
One technology I have found to be most beneficial is the use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom. Interactive whiteboard technologies provide the class with a visual outlet and kinesthetic outlet. The interactive whiteboard can be used for class presentations or even as a way for students to practice what they have learned. I have learned how to make presentations that allow for student involvement that I can see myself using in the classroom as a practice tool before or even after a unit.
It is also important to me to use technology to level the playing field whenever possible. I want to incorporate technology that will help students in my class that have any extra needs. For example if I have a student in my class still developing their English I can provide them extra support through many of the assistive technologies out there. It all depends on what their exact level or need is but I feel like I have been introduced to enough supportive tools that when the time comes I can find a tool to help.
My overall perception of technology is still developing. I know that I want to use it in my classroom, and I know that I want to use it as a tool not as a substitution. I believe that the advantages of technology in the classroom outweigh the disadvantages but I do think that it is important to keep the disadvantages in mind.
